Venetian Islands
Description
The Venetian Islands are a sextet of manmade neighborhoods located on Biscayne Bay comprising Biscayne Island, Di Lido Island , Rivo Alto Island, San Marco Island , Belle Isle and San Marino Island. The Venetian Causeway which runs across all six islands connects Miami Beach to the east and downtown Miami to the west and is known for its many frequent joggers, bike riders and Venetian Island residents taking their pampered pooches for a leisurely stroll.
Biscayne Island was once the home of Viking Airport but now features an assorted collection of apartments and Miami Beach homes. Di Lido Island is the home of what would have been the seventh Venetian Island, the Isola di Lolando, its remnants are still viewable from the northernmost tip. Near the southern tip of Rivo Alto Island is Flagler Monument Island, a popular uninhabited picnic spot. San Marco and San Marino Island have what’s considered to be the most impressive and upscale Miami Beach waterfront homes while Belle Isle has the majority of recreational and lodging sites. However, all of the islands offer some kind of Venetian Islands real estate.
Belle Isle is where you’ll find most of the activities. Having been recently renovated it now has a dog park (perfect for pet owners who live on one of the islands) as well as picnic areas. You can always sail over to Flagler Monument Island or head to Miami Beach and downtown Miami to find even more things to do.
